Terry Tsiolis

Photographer Terry Tsiolis was born in 1969 in Montreal, Canada, where his parents had immigrated years before. He lived and worked in New York and became well known for his collaborations with fashion magazines like Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Vanity Fair. He has photographed musicians and actresses such as Rihanna, Margot Robbie and Jane Fonda as well as the most famous models in the fashion industry. For the sake of ImpacTalk, Terry Tsiolis recalls his childhood years and makes an emotional flashback journey to the neighborhoods where he grew up, the Sunday meals with the family and his grandfather Thodoris, from whom he took his name, as well as the summers in Greece. He defines photography in the age of social media and while feeling emotionally overwhelmed he tells life stories from the 80’s and 90’s New York City. For Terry Tsiolis, photography is a co-creation between the photographer and the subject in front of the lens. It’s a link that is difficult to be described in words but with a single click can masterfully capture a unique moment forever.
