Papastratos
Papastratos, subsidiary company of Philip Morris International (PMI), holds a leading position in the production and trade of tobacco products in Greece for nine decades. In 2017 the company was completely reformed to implement the great vision of PMI for a world free of tobacco. With an investment of 300 million euros the company converted the factory in Aspropyrgos to a production unit exclusively for heated tobacco sticks for the new product of decreased danger compared to cigarettes; the IQOS, the first PIM product that heats but it doesn’t burn the tobacco. In July 2020, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) licensed IQOS as a product of differential danger. Until December 2020, approximately 12,7 million adult smokers in all over the world and more than 300.000 in Greece had chosen this new technology.
