Likely for basketball, he was born to play basketball. The first scorer and first assist man in the history of EuroLeague and Champions Cup, Vasilis Spanoulis, except for making his own history in both Greece and Europe, he has proved, in a lot of matches and for many years, that he is a top-class athlete and basketball player. 

He took his first steps as a professional in Keravnos Larissas and then he signed for Panathinaikos. He had a quick stint in the NBA with Houston Rockets and then he signed for Olympiakos where he has stayed since 2011.

The international guard and leader of Olympiakos has earned innumerable distinctions including three European championships and seven Greek championships. He has won the MVP title in Greece and Europe several times. 

With the Greek National team he won the gold medal in Eurobasket 2005, the silver medal in Mundobasket 2006 and the bronze medal in Eurobasket 2009. 

The experts call him the total “Clutch player” because he always tries to have the ball even in the most pressing situations, he is too dangerous when he shoots and when he gets into the three second area, while he is an excellent passer and defender. 

He is married to Olympia Chopsonidou and together they have six children.
