Eleftheria Deko, a lighting designer since 1990, has designed lighting for more than 450 performances in theatre, music and dance, opera and art installations, for which she has received excellent reviews, distinctions and awards. Among her many honours, she was awarded the title "Female Artist of the Year 2009" for her contribution to theatre and the arts in general.
After 5 years in New York, where she also worked as a lighting designer and taught Lighting Design at New York University (NYU), she returned to Greece in 1992. Since then she has collaborated with many Greek theatre groups and troupes, directors, set designers, artists, while she has been repeatedly invited to design the lighting of performances at international festivals.
In 1997 she founded the trading company "Lights International", specialising in lighting design (stage and events) and in the design and supply of lighting equipment and installation of theatrical stages and conference rooms.
In her Leaders Talk, Eleftheria Deko states: “Works of art speak to us”. Eleftheria Deko illuminated the Acropolis and changed the greatest monument in the world for all of us. She lit up the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympic Games to be on the red carpet at the Emmy Awards and established a chair at the University with the material of her course… Eleftheria, a citizen of our world, travels through her own light, to her own favourite destinations. Magical images through honest words.
